Please note that all donations, including membership fees are fully tax deductible because the Scottish Society is a 501 (C) (3) charitable organization. The Scottish Society is seeking donations for our Scholarship Fund, which awards a Scholarship annually to a person that upon review, the Scholarship Committee finds acceptable. All gifts will be acknowledged by written confirmation of the gift and the terms and conditions of the gift acceptance. The Society will abide by any request of the donor to remain anonymous.

2025 Scholarship Winners

Scottish Society of the Treasure Coast Scholarship Recipients 2025 Five young students have each received a $500 scholarship from the Scottish Society of the Treasure Coast, to further their studies and skills related to Scottish Culture and Traditions.

Max Dobrin, age 14, has practiced with the Vero Beach Pipe & Drum group for two years, playing snare drum. Max has attended the annual Scottish Highland Games three years and aspires to achieve proficiency in Scottish snare drumming. In July 2025 Max will attend the North America Academy of Piping & Drumming in North Carolina, and planned to use his $500. scholarship to offset the travel and tuition costs of the Academy.

Ella Duppenthaler, age 12, competes in Highland Dance competitions in the southeast. She was first runner up in the 2024 Regional Championships, and a Regional Representative in the National Championships. Ella has achieved Premier level, the highest dance level, and is training for Regional competition. She is hoping to qualify again to represent the southeast in the National Championships. Ella plans to use the $500. scholarship for additional Highland Dance training and lessons, and hopes to travel to Scotland in the future, and compete there.

Jack Seen, age 15, has been playing bagpipes four years, and was recently awarded Grade 3 Piper of the Day at both the Central Florida Highland Games, and the Dunedin Highland Games. Jack has attended the Dunedin Bagpipe Camp, and the American Academy of Piping & Drumming, and also placed 1st in Grade 4 European Pipe Band Championships in Perth, Scotland in 2024 Jack will be traveling to Glasgow, Scotland in August 2025 for the World Pipe Band Championships with the Grade 2 City of Dunedin Bagpipe Band. He plans to use the $500. scholarship to help pay to attend the Invermark Piping Camp to receive instruction from world-class bagpipers. In the future Jack hopes to volunteer giving bagpipe instruction to middle school students, and also continue being a member of the Dunedin Pipe Band, as an active bagpipe soloist.

Facil Vargas, age 15, has been playing bagpipes the past year and bass drum for two years. He is a member of the Space Coast Highlanders Band, and has competed in four Highland Games in solo competitions in Jacksonville, Dunedin, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale. He won 2nd place in Grade 5 piping, and 1st place in Solo Bass Drum. Facil plays several instruments, and is also learning Piobaireachd, the classical music of Highland Bagpipes. He hopes to advance his Grade in piping to one day compete in the World Pipe Band Competition, and plans to use the $500 scholarship to purchase his own bagpipes, and to attend bagpipe camp.

Allison Williams, age 17, is a Premier, Champion level, Highland Dancer, who has represented the Southeast Region at the National Competition three times. She also takes annual BATD exams, including dance theory, to prepare for her upcoming teacher exam next year. Allison has been dancing since the age of six and has earned over forty awards, trophies and recognition in just the past three years. She plans to use the $500. scholarship for further training to compete in the Highland Dance World Championships in Scotland.

2024 Scholarship Winner

The Scottish Society Board has approved a $500 donation to support a student attending the School of Scottish Arts in Banner Elk, North Carolina. The recipient is Ella Duppenthaler, she is the middle sister of 5 girls who dance. See attached picture and thank you letter.
